Solar Eclipse: A Course in Miracles interpretation

Today, August 12, and especially along the Camino in Spain, there is a full solar eclipse.
The Moon is about 400 times smaller in diameter than the Sun. A speck, really.
The Sun is about 400 times farther away from Earth than the Moon is.
Because of this size and distance relationship, the Moon can APPEAR to be the same size as the Sun.
During a solar eclipse, when the Moon passes between the Earth and Sun, it can APPEAR large enough to cover the Sun.
But what we are witnessing is one big optical illusion!
I can’t help but think of the symbolism, especially through the lens of A Course in Miracles.
The Moon, representing the ego thought system of fear, separation, isolation, anxiety and “darkness”, APPEARS to come between us and the Sun, the Light that We Are, the Life and Glory that shines upon all.
For a few moments – which we can indeed experience as prolonged – the Moon SEEMS to darken our skies and surroundings, and to cast a shadow upon all that it touches. It SEEMS to completely cover the Light.
But the Moon can never diminish the Sun or its light. The Sun remains exactly as it is.
It’s only that the Moon has momentarily come between our eyes and the Light.
And that is precisely how we experience the ego in our lives.
It SEEMS to cover our holy, brilliant Mind that is forever One with Its Creator and all of creation.
It SEEMS to hide the radiance of our True Self.
It SEEMS so big and powerful that, for a moment (which can feel like a lifetime), it makes us believe that Our Light has disappeared.
But it is an illusion, an error of perspective.
Something vastly smaller APPEARS, from our limited perspective, to be capable of covering something vastly greater.
It all depends on where we’re looking from.
From the perspective of the identity we believe we are (a body, separated from other bodies, in my case a personality named Mony with her personal story and beliefs, etc.), the shadow can SEEM to cover the Light, the True Self, the Christ.
From the perspective of Truth, the Sun (as a symbol of the Christ) has never stopped shining.
What God (our Creator, our Source) created eternally brilliant like Him can never be blotted out. It remains exactly as He created it: whole, holy, radiant, innocent and eternally loved.
The Light can be momentarily covered in our awareness, forgotten, unseen.
As we look upon the shadows, we can even momentarily confuse them with the Light.
But the Light remains untouched.
The Sun is still there, as the shadow passes.
With an eclipse, we don’t look upon our darkened sky and, for even a moment, believe that the Sun is gone. We know the darkness shall pass.
And so it is when the “darkness” appears in our minds, and we feel lost, confused, uncertain, we can be willing to remember that the Light is still there, ever calling us to look upon IT… and not the darkness.
We can call upon the Inner Teacher and Guide (what the Course calls the Holy Spirit), and give the “darkness” to Him-Her-It, asking to see clearly, to experience peace in mind and heart, to remember the Light that I Am that has never dimmed.
The shadow always passes.
The Light ever remains.
What a comforting thought.
With love,✨💛✨
